Lamentations 2:11-12

*****

a grieving mother

her frantic searching

in an ocean of pain

*

a grieving mother

her banshee voice

drowns out birdsong

*

a grieving mother

her deafening keen

shocks the flowers

*

a grieving mother

 plunging into darkness

abandons the sky

*

a grieving mother

her ceaseless wailing

cannot breathe

*

a grieving mother

her future obliterated

dies, though living

*

a grieving mother

her heart shattering

cries out to God

  1. As JazzBumpa already said in another comment here … I have read wonderful haiku and the greatest part of reading those haiku on threnody I shed tears … very hard to read all these haiku on threnody. But … haiku is emotion and sadness is one of it.

  2. a terrific set indeed. as i read on, each haiku becomes sadder… they say there is no pain in the world like that of a mother having to bury her child.
